Litho Print

Overview

Our state of the art litho printing presses allow us to produce beautiful printed literature of the highest quality.

Lithographic printing is a commercial printing process that produces high quality printed materials. This technique is used for higher-volume production runs. Acorn Press offers commercial lithographic printing up to B1 size. Our continual investment in the latest printing technology means we are able to deliver almost any type of lithographically printed product including catalogues, magazines and brochures.

With these comprehensive lithographic printing capabilities, we are able to offer each and every client the flexibility to meet tight deadlines and a streamlined work-flow.

Technical

Our printing hall is a high-productivity environment, staffed by a team of skilled printers and equipped with the latest Heidelberg technology.

Our Heidelberg XL106 printing press delivers sheets at a speed of 18,000 per hour, and is fitted with Inpress control for measuring colour. Inpress Control automatically measures and controls colour at any speed. The measuring unit integrated into the printing press recognizes scale colours, spot colours, and registers in the print control strip. Any necessary corrections are forwarded directly to the Prinect Press Center for adjustment. As the press does not need to be stopped for either makeready or monitoring of the production run, Prinect Inpress Control achieves maximum productivity.

With the latest feed and delivery system our Heidelberg press can print on very light weight stocks or very heavy stocks through the same press.

Proofing / Proofreading

When your artwork file enters our studio, we create a proof to ensure that we are in complete agreement on the appearance of the final printed product. A proof is a close representation of how your artwork will appear when it is printed and may be either a PDF or printed proof produced on our high-resolution Canon / Epsom inkjet proofing system. If your brief involves complex finishing processes we may recommend that a physical proof is created to demonstrate how the piece will be constructed, where it will be folded and the order of the pages.

We understand there can be nothing more disappointing than receiving a beautifully-printed job and noticing a typo in your copy so, unlike other printers, Acorn Press invests in a complimentary proofreading service for each and every job that passes through our pre-press department.

Print Finishing

Finishing refers to operations that are performed after the printing of your product such as cutting, perforating, binding and laminating.

We have a comprehensive finishing department which performs a wide variety of processes to enhance the function and appearance of your printed literature. For more complex print finishing requirements, we have a trusted network of finishing suppliers, meaning we can facilitate any type of print finishing.

Distribution

The final part of the print production process is distribution. Acorn is able to handle any type of distribution and fulfilment requests from the warehousing of printed items, call-off orders, shipping, the packaging and addressing, mailing to the correct recipients, and confirmation that the orders have been filled.

Our dedicated team of despatch co-ordinators can manage complex distribution requirements of any type and with our mailing and fulfilment partner based next door to our factory in Swindon we are able to offer a seamless print and mailing service for all of our clients.

Project Management

Print forms just one piece of a much larger picture. At Acorn Press, we always take the time to understand how print fits into our clients’ wider marketing activities so we can offer advice and suggestions to help them get the most from their campaigns.
